The use of Krypton gas in incandescent lamps results in excellent lamp efficiency and life. Krypton gas posses a heavier molecular structure and a higher atomic weight, thus insuring slower circulation and heat transmission resulting in slower tungsten filament evaporation. This results in reduced blackening of the lamp walls and higher maintained lumen output.
When burned in a base down position, ordinary incandescent bulbs lose as much as 40% or more of their light output over life compared to 13% with Krypton gas. The result is higher maintained light levels.
With Krypton filled Energy Saver lamps you save 10% in electricity costs while maintaining the same light level. This is because Krypton gas allows the filament to glow brighter than filaments burning in argon gas.
